I've got work, and then on my lunch break my family Christmas gathering. Because even though it's been on the 24th, weather permitting, as long as I can remember this year when I have the 24th off, my grandmother decides to do it on the 23rd. When I'm supposed to work 9 hours. Luckily my manager likes me. And is work today so I can take a long lunch. Also luckily my grandmother only lives about 15 minutes from where I work.

The real question is will my mother be on her best behavior. I saw her yesterday and she told me I need to change how I shave the sides of my head because I've done it wrong for the shape of my head. I mean it's an improvement from when she used to call me fat, but also not what I want to deal with around the holidays.

In happier news, I threw a couple of mods at Stardew Valley and my enjoyment has greatly improved. Still trying to get enough copper ore to build a furnace so I can make copper bars so I can make a silo. But that kind of thing is the point of the game.

all the sympathy about the judgy family members. my mother and grandmother used to do that a lot.

...i don't understand it. is it the family hair? is your mother affected by the way you keep your hair? if she hates how it looks she can look at something else tbh. :/

I sometimes wonder if it jealously. She's got curly hair, mine is straight, is the real problem the fact I can do things to my hair she couldn't?

Or you know she's just a judgmental person who needs to keep her opinions to herself.

Oooh, I'm so sorry. Can't stand it when family comment on my looks, especially when it's a personal stylistic choice kind of thing. I hope she swallows the nastiness and lets you enjoy your meal!

She was on her best behavior at dinner. Maybe helped that one of my uncles kept her distracted playing cribbage most of the time I was there.

Ush working the holiday sucks. I have to work Christmas and Christmas Eve this year, bleh. What is up with parents seriously? Why do they make those kinds of comments?

At least working retail is better than when I worked at a hotel and had to work on all the holidays.

I've got no idea about parents, maybe it's the whole I raised you I get a say thing? At least it's only from my Mom.
