Sep. 1st, 2005 04:51 amOkay so I finally read Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. And can I say who ever said it read like fan fiction was absolutely right.
Oh look Dumbledore finally decided to notice Harry's family is awful to him. Took him long enough.
I guessed who the half-blood prince was well before you where actually told. Snape made sense. Also from the moment he makes the unbreakable promise you just know he's going to end up doing what ever it is Malfoy's supposed to.
I'm still really confused as to if Snape was ever really on the side of good or not.
Everyone happily pairing up, so very very much like bad fan fic there for a bit. Even with Harry's no we can't be together thing.
What is it with characters dropping out of school? Sets a bad example for all those kids who read them. First Fred and George, and now the three main characters. Sure they are all going off to pursue other things. But still, schoolings good for you or something, no need to go off and hunt the bad guy full time just cause you're considered an adult now.
And the defense against dark arts position really is a bad place to be. And for a really long time it seems.
Randomness with the stupid house elf, and just brief mentions of Harry's getting the house.
The funeral at the end was I bit lacking or something, I'm not sure what I mean by that though. It was just eh, oh look everyone loves Dumbledore and now he's gone.
I guess over all it was okay, parts of it irritated me, because they were more then a little obvious.
Also the girl I borrowed the book from is in aw of my reading abilities, I got through over 100 pages of it in less then an hour. Actually that fact that I finished it already will probably cause more fuss. I got it at about 7pm, I finished it around 4:30am, with taking time to go to the movies, and to watch some TV. Lets see how much I remember in the morning, erm, after I wake up.
