Turned on my phone, it tells me I have a message. It's from my dad reminding me about a birthday party for one of my step-relatives. The cool old guy who used to work for the CIA and has cool stories and still can't go to Europe.
I've never been told about this party before today. Dad called it a reminder, but it's the first I've heard of it.
Now do I ask for a day off for this party I'd be two hours late for otherwise, or do I just stick to requesting the day off I was going to take to go racing with Dad?
